Fundraising & Community Relations (Eden Institute Foundation, Inc.)
The Eden Institute Foundation serves as the development and community relations arm of the Eden Services, and was incorporated in 1984 to raise operating, capital and endowment funds in support of lifespan services for individuals with autism and their families. The Foundation holds a wide variety of fundraising events each year, including the annual "Eden Dreams" benefit in January, "Eden Presents…" events in Florida and several raffles and golf outings. An Annual Fund campaign, an ongoing special tribute program, corporate and foundation grants and planned giving activities are also important components of Eden's development efforts. Individuals who have made a bequest or other planned gift to the Eden Family of Services compose the William J. Noonan Legacy Society, so named because its members' foresight and generosity ensures that future generations of children and adults with autism will benefit from Eden's mission.
Eden's community relations activities include the annual "Friends of Eden" Awards, honoring individuals or organizations that have provided major support to the organization, and the Eden Services Scholars Program, which provides two types of scholarships. The Eden Institute Foundation Scholarship is available to local graduating high school seniors who plan to pursue college careers in special education or related fields. The Alexis Kate Special Education Teachers Scholarship is available to college sophomore and juniors who have declared a special education major. The purpose of these and other community relations efforts is two-fold: 1) to recognize and give back to the people and places that support Eden and 2) to promote public awareness of the needs and abilities of people with autism and Eden's mission of lifespan services for these individuals.
The Eden Institute Foundation also publishes Eden's Annual Development Report, EDENewsbriefs, the internal newsletter Passages and a variety of brochures and other printed pieces. |
