The Eden Services Scholars Program

The Credo for the Eden Family of Services states Our fourth responsibility is to the community at large. We must be good neighbors to those in whose communities we offer services. We must continue to educate the community about autism. In an effort to fulfill this responsibility to 'give back' to and educate the community, the Eden Family of Services provides scholarship support to students living in the communities in which Eden operates its facilities.

The Eden Services Scholars Program seeks to not only provide financial support to the Scholars, but also instill in them respect and understanding for the daily challenges faced by individuals with disabilities.

Currently, Eden offers two scholarship programs:

The Alexis Kate Special Education Teachers Scholarship is a $500 Scholarship which is presented annually to a worthy college Sophomore or Junior who has declared a special education major and has also demonstrated extracurricular commitment to the field. This award was made possible through the fund-raising efforts of Steve Nelson, whose niece was diagnosed with autism at 17 months of age and subsequently received early intervention services through Eden's infant and toddler program. Mr. Nelson rode his bike 1,800 miles from New Jersey-to-Florida in order to raise money to create an endowed scholarship fund for students planning special education careers.
